Mission Pediatrics San Bernardino
"Haleakalā Office"
1906 Commercenter Drive East, Suite 101,
San Bernardino, CA, 92408
Mission Pediatrics has its own Hawaii-themed office in a quiet district off Hospitality in San Bernardino. Themed after Haleakalā National Park, this facility in the Mission Pediatrics collection creates a truly Delightfully Different® experience for our patients. Located on the first floor of a newly refurbished building with convenient parking right out front, our Sun-and-Surf motif fills the space with Hawaiian music, themed staff costumes, and vibrant custom murals. Handmade surfboards and a dedicated “selfie” spot welcome families into an atmosphere that feels more like a tropical getaway than a doctor’s office.
Each exam room represents a different Hawaiian Island, and children can even have their vitals taken inside a cheerful tiki-styled station before heading to their room. For added peace of mind, the entire office is equipped with purified air systems, keeping the environment fresh and safe. Be sure to ring the buzzer to enter as we have secured access for your child’s safety. Since joining the Mission Pediatrics family in 2016, Haleakalā has welcomed the San Bernardino community with its own special blend of medical excellence and island warmth.
Beyond the décor, our Haleakalā office carries a deeper story rooted in history and imagination. The tiki sensation that swept across America after World War II was a uniquely American cultural phenomenon. Returning servicemen, many of whom had spent time in the Pacific, brought home vivid memories of lush landscapes, vibrant music, and the warm spirit of island hospitality. Out of those memories, an enduring style was born—one that found expression in restaurants, backyard luaus, art, and even Disney’s beloved Enchanted Tiki Room.
In his best effort to honor family and the “shoulders of giants” upon which Mission Pediatrics was built, Dr. Watson infused this office with a personal tribute to his grandfather, a World War II Purple Heart recipient. For members of what came to be called The Greatest Generation, tiki culture offered a joyful way to reconnect with life, family, and the simple pleasures of peacetime. Inspired by that history, Dr. Watson designed Haleakalā to be more than a medical office—a place of healing and wonder, where children and families can feel safe, comforted, and even a little transported, so that a visit to the doctor feels less clinical and more magical.
There’s also a playful twist hidden throughout our office. Across all Mission Pediatrics locations, we celebrate the classic saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” by hiding apples for kids to discover during their visit. But here at Haleakalā, we’ve given the tradition a tropical twist: “A pineapple a day keeps the doctor away.” Look closely during your visit—can you find all the hidden pineapples?
If this is your first time here, we want you to feel genuinely welcome and enjoy our unique brand of hospitality. At Mission Pediatrics, we stand apart from the “big box medicine” that too often chokes out the joy of care for patients and providers alike. Here, we keep that joy alive—and invite you to join us in spreading it.
