Safe In The Sun – Sunscreen

Safety in the sun for children. Use sunscreen.

Like Olaf, we are really big fans of summer! Do you love being outside in the sun? It feels great to be outside but we want you to be safe. With all the sunscreen out there, how do you know how to choose the right one for your children?

First, pick one than protects well against UV rays. Also, one that is at least SPF 30.

You want a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. Sprays are convenient but can be harmful if inhaled.

Lotions are typically safer in children and easier to determine if you have applied enough. If your child has sensitive skin or allergies, look for sunscreens that are labeled for this use.

When outside with your children, have them wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing. Consider long sleeves or pants to help keep out the sun even when swimming.

Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.

And don’t forget to always wear a hat.

Here’s a riddle for you: What do you call a snowman in July? – A puddle.
